ACE Mentors

ace_logoACE mentors is a group of students that meet once a week to learn and work on problems in the architectural, construction engineering fields. Each year ACE is given a RFP, which is a proposal for a project that includes all parts of ACE and the skills we learn about each field in the beginning of the year.  We spend a few months working on designing and fixing problems we come up to in order to meet the goal of the project. Then we present our ideas to a panel of judges. In the presentation we show the design, what we did to solve certain problems, the cost of the project and where all the money is going to, and a schedule for the project. This year we received the RFP in the beginning of January and have been working on it ever since. The task this year is to renovate a house so that it can house a family with five foster kids, each having their own room. Part of our task is to create a soul of the project, so we need to have a family gathering area, a place where the family can eat all together, an outdoor classroom. Anything to make the house seem homey, not institutional.  March 4th was our deadline to have 50% of the project done and submitted. We have until April 4th to complete the last half of the project. We are working hard after school to get the project done on time and make the project the best we can.
